About our makers and designer:

No one knows better how texture unites cultures than Leo Kraidelman, founder of Karma Living. The company, based on the East Coast has made a name for itself by using contemporary applications of time-tested techniques and fabrics to keep traditional handicrafts alive around the globe. While Karma Living honors the tradition of handicrafts, the company, under Leo’s direction, designs, develops, produces and distributes products instead of serving just as an importer. “We go to places where beautiful things are made”.

Leo is a native of Uruguay, who began exploring the world and sourcing handicrafts in 1975. “While the entire planet provides inspiration, we routinely draw from countries with strong handicraft traditions such as India, Peru, Mexico and West Africa..” Leo identifies relationships as the basis of Karma Living. “We’ve specialized in textiles since the mid ‘90s, so we offer a wide variety of textures which result directly from the diversity of yarns as well as the weaving and knitting techniques that we use on each collection,” says Kraidelman. His company works with textiles as varied as a blend of sheep and llama wool from South America, hand-stitched silk from Calcutta, and vintage mudcloth from West Africa. Textiles are a second skin for every human being,” says Kraidelman. “It’s what they use to cover, protect, what they use to connect with each other.” “Our artisans are our role models and guides. As we develop products that support what they do, the artisans produce even more exceptional work.” “With every purchase , our customers help keep beauty and tradition alive.”
